Vizag to Araku Tour
Blessed with natural scenic splendour and varied flora and fauna, ARAKU Valley is located 114kms from Visakhapatnam. It is one of the least polluted and less commercialized tourist destinations in Andhra Pradesh. Surrounded by lush green forests it is an excellent place to chill as you drive to Araku. . The best time to visit Araku is during the months from October to February.
By Road : From Vizag Araku valley is 3 hours journey by road and is located at a distance of 106 KM from NAD Kotha road Junction on NH5 ( Visakhapatnam ) . On the plain area the road passes through Pendurthi junction, Kothavalasa, S- Kota and few other small villages . You can either hire a taxi or bus depending on your convenience.
Public transportation options like buses are available from the Araku Bus Station in order to reach area attractions. Tourists can also hire private transport to visit the different places.
Area Attractions & Touring
Dumbriguda-Chapurai Waterfalls - Dumbriguda Waterfalls is located about 15 km from Araku Valley. It is a popular tourist attraction, with its endless streams that cut across big rock formations of Araku Valley. Falling from an elevation of about 3,215 ft, the waterfalls are one of the preferred locations for Telugu filmmakers. Beauty of the waterfalls is enhanced by the presence of silver wood trees in the vicinity.
Araku Museum: Araku Tribal Museum is situated on Araku Road in the heart of Araku Valley. Located in the vicinity of Padmapuram Botanical Gardens, the museum offers a glance at the lifestyle and cultures of the tribal communities indigenous to the Eastern Ghats. Araku Tribal Museum is built with mud and clay and has a rugged theme to it. In the museum, accommodation facilities, eateries and stores selling indigenous souvenirs like handicrafts items made by the tribes can be found.
Borra Caves : Borra Caves, also called as Borra Guhalu in the native language, are situated in Araku Valley and form a part of the Ananthagiri Hills. Drained by the Gosthani River, these caves are mostly a composition of substances like stalagmite and stalactite. These caves are considered to be the deepest in India.
Anathagiri Waterfalls : At a distance of 30 Kms from Araku, 3 Kms from Anantagiri village, Tadimada waterfalls, also known as Anantagiri Waterfalls are one of the best waterfalls in this region.
With a height of about 100 feet, these falls offer best views in monsoon season. The best way to reach these waterfalls is by walking / trekking from Anantagiri.
Galikondalu view point : From Galikonda view point (3800 ft above sea level ) the view of valley is excellent. You can locate the rail track way bellow from the top. On the way from Anantagiri after 15 KM there is a small market place known as Sankarmatha. This serves as a market place for local tribal and many traditional vegetables and forest products are available in this rural market
